LODGE 23: Minuted Meeting from 50 years ago.

Newry……18th May 1959: UNION MASONIC LODGE No. 23, met at 8 o’clock p.m.
         
The Lodge was opened in form on the Entered Apprentice Degree, the Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Jim Brown presiding.
         
The Circular Convening the meeting was read.
         
The Roll was called and attendances recorded.
         
Minutes The Minutes of the April communication were read, confirmed signed by the Worshipful Master, countersigned by the secretary and the Lodge Seal affixed thereto.
         


Regalia
Arising out of the minutes Worshipful Brother John Robinson reported that after examining the Regalia belonging to the Lodge he and the brethren who assisted him wished to report that they found that about half of the aprons were in a poor condition, the other half were quite Serviceable. Brother F. Lockhart proposed and Worshipful Brother Lockington seconded that Worshipful Brother Robinson get a quotation for repair & cleaning & putting our regalia in order. Passed.
         

Provincial
Grand
Lodge
Very Worshipful Brother W.V. Hogg reported on a meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge held in Newtownards on Saturday May 9th. Same was a very successful meeting.
This meeting was also notable for the fact that the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Sir William Robinson had been a member of Provincial Grand Lodge for 25 years, a very worthy and deserved record.
Voting papers for Victoria Jubilee Annuity Fund to hand were passed to the Local Charity Board on proposal of Worshipful Brother W.V. Hogg, seconded By Brother G Fenton.
         
Apology A letter of apology was received from Brother Colin Kerr Finaghy and conveying good wishes to Worshipful Master and Brethren.
         
150 Years Anniversary The Worshipful Master & Very Worshipful Brother Hogg reported on a joint meeting with the Officers of Lodge 18 regarding the prop. Celebration of the 150 yrs Anniversaries of both Lodges. This celebration to be held on Friday 23 October 1959 will take the form of a Dinner & Social evening only & Limited to 75 if going to be held in Newry Hall. Fee to be £1-1 s further information at September Communication. This terminated the Lodge Business & the Worshipful Master closed the Lodge in Peace Love & Harmony prevailing.
